I chose this lesson because it was a very traditional math lesson using the chalkboard and chart paper. I felt using Prezi to present the concepts would add a new and exciting element to the lesson delivery. Prezi is a format that students will be able to identify with, in that it is colorful, graphic, and has movement. Presentsing in this fashion allows the instructor to have all the concepts defined in advance and allows the lesson to flow in a smoother progression. I believe using this different style of presentation will help make the lesson more memorable for the students, meaning, the day Properties in Algebra was presented will stand out from other lessons and students will therefore have better recall.

    2. Have another student "distribute" 3 index cards to everyone in the class.
    3. "Does it matter which side of the room the pencils or index cards are distributed from? NO"
    4. Begin the Prezi presentation of "Properties in Algebra."
    5. Introduce each property and discuss.
    Evaluation/Checking for Understanding
In the Prezi equations are displayed. Students have index cards with properties and identities written on them.
Give student time to view the equation and then hold up the card for the correct property or identity that is displayed.
    Independent Practice/Homework
Students will complete a similar sheet for homework.

    14. 7(30 +6) = (7 x 30) + (7 x 6)
    Homework
    Distributive Property
    Example: 2(7 + 4) = (2 x 7) + ( 2 x 4)
    Communtative Property
    Example: 4 + 3 = 3 + 4
    Associative Property
    Example: (3 + 4) + 5 = 3 + (4 + 5)
    Additive Identity
    Example: 5 + 0 = 5
    Multiplicative Identity
    Example: 7 x 1 + 7
Rewrite using the Distributive Property then solve.
    1. 5(20 + 8)
    2. 3(50 + 8)
    3. (12 x 40) + (12 x 2)
    4. (4 x 3) + (4 x 2)
Identify the property of each equation.
    5. 7 x 8 = 8 x 7
    6. 4 + 5 = 5 + 4
    7. 14 + 27 + 16 = 27 + 16 + 14
    8. 9 x 1 = 9
    9. (7 x 2) x 4 = 7 x (2 x 4)
    10. 2 x 3 x 4 = 2 x 4 x 3
    11. 0 + 11 = 11
    12. (6 x 4) x 2 = 6 x (4 x 2)
